I am a 15 year old boy who loves to skate and play the guitar. what i aim for in life is a proffesional musician and to tour the world with my band and to be able to make record deals and be well known all over the world!! rock on!!
I am not going to say all my heroes because there are just too many of them!! haha:)
i have been playing the guitar for 8 years now and i have enjoyed every moment of playing the guitar !! i was raised in a athletic and musical family. It was only my dad who got me interested into joe and rock music. One day he came home from work in the year of 2000 or 2001 and he said to me "Rhys come and have a look at this guitar player and tell me what you think of him", and i said "ok" and i sat down and as the first 6 songs went on my eyes were glued on him i thought to myself this guy is amazing, and then i knew at that point this is what i wanted to do in my life. So then i asked my dad if i could take up the guitar and of course he said "yes" so then he went upstairs and got his Fender Stratocaster and brought it down to me and he said "here you are Rhys my Fender Stratocaster go on try and play it" so i took it out of the case and try'd playing but i could just manage to get one note to play haha and then he got out his guitar and showed me the chords in C major the first key of all any guitar player would learn in. He said "right Rhys the chords in c major are , C D E F G A B C" and i was like you missed out the H and all that and he laughed at me and i was like what are you laughing at and he said there is no H musical terms and then i said oh ok so then he showed me how to play the chords and i was suprised myself on how quickly i picked it up. After learning all the chords in C major and which chords were Major and Minor i basically knew them in every key but did not know there were such things as Sharps and Flats but anyway lets come of that for a moment my dad put on a Carlos Santana song that night but i could not remember the name. So anyway he said right Rhys this song has got a chord in it all the way through and the chord was A minor and he said "This is the sixth chord in C major and it is the relative minor" so i said whats that and he told me that you can basically use A minor all over the neck because it is the sixth chord in C so i learnt the A minor pentatonic scale and started to really pathetically improvise a crap solo over the song because i had just picked the guitar up the day before so i just started to mix the pentatonic and major scale up to see what came up and i was impressed upon my self because i didnt realise that i could pick up the guitar so quick.
And here i am now from a little 7 year old kid who just started playing guitar to this 15 year old kid who knows alot of theory and goes around with my band and my dads band doing gigs!
3 years on since i was 7 i did my first gig and i was 10. I played in a disabled people home not big of a crowd only about 60 people but to a 10 year old that was alot and i was nervous too but that night i played 2 songs which was Parisienne walkways by Gary Moore and Cocaine by Eric clapton but i improvised the solo to cocaine. So any way while i was playing i was just looking down the whole time concentrating and my uncle was playing the drums telling me to turn up a little and my dad was playing the chords in the background whispering to me look up so as soon as i looked up i just looked at my 3 sisters and their boyfriends and they were absoluetly hammered just dancing with old disabled people, i couldnt stop laughing so they kinda put me off a little so i made only 1 mistake and thats it the song was over every body clapped me and even a few people asked me to play another song but my dad said "he cant now he's finished and he dosent know anymore songs" so my mum gave me a life home and as soon as i got in i plugged my guitar in and started playing again i just couldnt get enough of it.
so know what i am trying to do is to form another band and when i do we will all chip in some money to go to a recording studio to make an album and send it off to a record company and if they like us we will put our album in the shops put it over the internet and make our own advert or something and we will get spotted and be a huge famous band! MY DREAM WILL COME TRUE IT WILL JUST KEEP BELIEVING EVERYONE OUT THERE KEEP BELIEVING
